3 Easy Ideas to Refresh Your Garden

About Me
Get to Know Your Local Trees

I'd always loved walking in forests and woodland areas, but I never really took the time to learn about the different species of tree — they all looked the same to me! That all changed when a relative gifted me a beautifully detailed book on local wildlife. From there, I was on a mission to learn all I could about trees, from oak to elm, beech to ash. I've set up this site to share my journey with you. Watch out for fun tree facts, tips on caring for trees on your property, and advice on tree planting and removal.

3 Easy Ideas to Refresh Your Garden

Taking care of your garden often requires a huge time commitment—and if you're not absolutely in love with the arrangement you have out there, it can be difficult to motivate yourself to work hard at it. However, remodelling can be expensive, especially if you change your mind about a feature and need to replace it yet again. In all, gardens can be problematic until you have them absolutely right—but here are a couple of low-maintenance ideas for changing up the space in your garden, bringing it a couple of steps closer to perfection.

Fencing

If you don't already have a fence border around your garden, adding one can really change its look—and add a little security at the same time. However, if you already have fences, switching them out for another material—such as wood or metal—could have a big impact on the feel of your garden. Metal can be either traditional or modern, depending on the style you choose, whereas wood looks more rustic and has plenty of colour options. On the other hand, if you already have wood fencing, just giving it a coat of paint—especially in a bright statement colour—can completely revamp your garden.

Trees

As well as potentially causing problems with the foundations of your home, large trees can also block light from reaching your home and obscure your view of the street around you. Plus, trees can take a lot of clipping and maintenance. While the greenery is pleasant, you may find it more convenient to have trees removed by a professional tree removal service. Equally, it will free up a lot of space in your garden, so it's a great idea to consider for families with active kids or pets.

Decking

Adding a raised deck to your garden can completely change the landscape and feel of the space—plus, it's less lawn or foliage to maintain. Add an awning or shade and you've got yourself a lovely outdoor dining space. However, if you think you'd miss the greenery, why not add climbers or potted plants to the deck? This can be an expensive option, especially if you'll need new furniture to fill it up with, but it's a great solution if you're looking for a big change.

Redoing your garden need not be a hugely expensive project; there are ideas to suit every budget. Whatever changes you make, you'll be creating an outdoor space you're much happier to live in and maintain.
